Mono Ethylene Glycol (MEG) is an essential component used as raw material in diverse industrial processes such as the manufacture resins, polyester, fibers and various types of films. It is a colorless liquid which has a syrup-like consistency. Cold, salt water and corrosion – natural gas pipelines deep below sea level are subject to extreme conditions. To ensure efficient transport through the pipelines, mono-ethylene glycol (MEG) is, among other things, added to the natural gas. A MEG purification process completed by separators ensures that it can be reused continuously without affecting the functionality of the MEG. The MEG Injection together with a Dew Point Plant is able to dehydrate the natural gas, because the chiller unit operates at low temperatures and it permits the water content of the gas to be condensed and removed in "cold separation", but this process requires inhibitor injection in order to avoid hydration formation, being glycol the usual Let’s begin by defining our terms.
